Fake locksmith listings quote a low price on the phone and charge several times that on site. Here is what to check, with us or anyone else.
- A license you can look upAsk any locksmith for their California license number and search it on the state's DCA lookup before they start.
- A real business nameWe answer as Prime Coast Locksmith. Be careful with anyone who just says "locksmith".
- A price before dispatchWe ask about the job first, then quote. A flat "from $19" with no questions is a warning sign.

Are you licensed?
Yes. California requires locksmiths to be licensed by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS). You can verify any California locksmith license on the state's DCA license lookup.
Why do you ask for my ID?
California law requires a locksmith to record the ID of anyone who asks for entry to a home, business or vehicle. It protects you, and a locksmith who skips it is a warning sign.
